Xiaomi 5G smartphone passes 3C certification; could be Redmi K30 Pro

A new Xiaomi smartphone with support for 5G has passed through 3C certification process. While the name of the device in question has not been revealed, it’s likely to be the Redmi K30 series device.
During Xiaomi Developers Conference, the company’s founder and CEO Lei Jun had said that the Redmi K30 smartphone will get launched in December this year. The smartphone is confirmed to support dual-mode 5G which includes SA and NSA mode.
Also, this will be the first dual-mode 5G smartphone from Xiaomi. The 3C certification claims that the smartphone will come with a charger having model number MDY-11-EF (CC9 Pro) and will support 30W fast charging technology.
Earlier, the company had shared a partial image of the upcoming Redmi K30 smartphone which revealed that the device will come with a punch-hole display with a pill-shaped cut-out for housing two front-facing cameras.
A recent report claimed that Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphones which carries codename ‘Pheonix’ will come with 120Hz refresh rate display and will have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The report goes on to add that the smartphone could very well be the upcoming Redmi K30.
If this turns out to be true, then it is a huge deal to get 120Hz refresh rate display on an upper-midrange smartphone like Redmi K30 given that the 90Hz refresh rate is going mainstream now that too for flagship smartphones. The smartphone is also expected to feature Sony IMx686 60MP sensor and dual-mode 5G (supports SA/ NSA).
The launch of Redmi K30 next month was a surprising announcement by Lei Jun given that Lu Weibing, General Manager of the Redmi brand had previously announced that the Redmi K30 series will get launched next month. However, this could mean that the Redmi K30 will get launched in December this year while the Pro model will go official next year.
